Canon Digital Camera Raw Image Format
CR3 is Canon’s latest raw image file format, providing improved image compression and smaller file sizes compared to its predecessor, CR2, while still retaining the extensive post-processing flexibility characteristic of raw formats. It supports new capabilities such as in-camera digital lens optimizer and c-RAW format options, offering enhanced image quality and performance for Canon camera users. However, due to its newer technology, some older software may require updates to provide full compatibility and support for CR3 files.
Joint Photographic Experts Group JFIF format
JPG (or JPEG) is one of the most widely used image file formats, favored for its efficient lossy compression algorithm that significantly reduces file size while maintaining a high image quality. It is commonly used for photographs and web graphics; however, the lossy nature of its compression means that some image quality is sacrificed, and this loss can be exacerbated with repeated editing and saving. JPG files support 24-bit color, allowing for a broad spectrum of colors, but they do not support transparent backgrounds.
