RAF is a raw image file format used by Fujifilm digital cameras. It contains unprocessed image data directly from the camera’s sensor, preserving the maximum amount of detail and allowing photographers to manipulate settings like exposure, white balance, and sharpness during post-processing. This flexibility can result in higher image quality compared to standard compressed image formats.

JXL stands for JPEG XL, a next-generation image coding standard developed by the Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPEG). JPEG XL is designed to provide efficient compression for both lossless and lossy image storage, offering high image quality at lower file sizes compared to previous standards. It supports a wide range of features including high dynamic range, wide color gamut, and progressive decoding, making it suitable for use in various applications from web graphics to professional photography. Despite its advantages, as a newer standard, JPEG XL may not yet have widespread support across all platforms and software.
