DCR is a raw image file format associated with Kodak digital cameras, designed to store image data as captured directly by the camera’s sensor without any in-camera processing or compression. This format preserves the full range of image information, allowing photographers extensive flexibility in post-production to adjust exposure, color balance, and other parameters for optimal image quality. However, DCR files are larger in size compared to compressed image formats and necessitate the use of specialized software for viewing and editing.

PPM stands for Portable Pixmap, and it is a simple image format that is part of the Netpbm package. The PPM format stores color images in a plain text or binary format, representing pixel values with three numbers for red, green, and blue color channels. PPM files are easy to read and understand, but they can be large in size as they do not employ any form of compression, resulting in each pixel being represented by full color intensity values.
